Sid’s Play, Learn, and Grow Space
The Bay Village Library holds a special spot in the heart of Sid, his mother, sister, and those that loved to go there with him. Sid, who is forever 4, grew up across the street from the former Bay Village library and went there with his family as often as they could. Letters fascinated Sid from infancy, he even had a favorite: X. After being diagnosed with autism at 20 months, Sid’s mom used books and letters as a calming tool. Sid began reading on his own at age 3 and always had a book with him. Sid’s favorite book was Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.
As friends of Sid we are raising funds to dedicate a space in the Children’s section of the new Bay Village library to our letter loving friend. It will be a space where you can find parents reading to children and making lasting, loving memories like the ones his mother and sister have from their time at the Bay Village Library with Sid. We hope that the space will be as meaningful to other families as the library was to Sid.

THE KID SID
A child without parents is an orphan, a husband without his wife is a widow. There is no word for a mom who loses a child. The Cuyahoga County Public Library System opened a new Bay Village branch on April 30, 2022. Sid’s Play, Learn, and Grow space is in the children’s section. Without our donation, there wouldn’t have been a play area in the children’s section. We continue to raise funds to expand the offerings in the space.
